Performance Poetry

Author and Performance Poet, Steve Tisane inspired and entertained on World Book Day!

We celebrated a snowy World Book Day on Thursday 1st March with a visit from Steve Tasane, author and performance poet.  In the morning he worked with a couple of Year 8 classes producing protest poetry. The students had less than ten minutes’ writing time, so we were amazed at the quality of some of the work.  And some pretty good raps were written too – everything will be typed up and put in a book (together with embarrassing photos!) for future students to admire.  We had two raucous periods in the afternoon when every Year 7 students got to watch and join in with Steve.  We especially enjoyed his performance of “Gobblefunk” and had a great time playing rhyming tennis.  Of course, every day is World Book Day at Fortismere…
