General Sixth Form Entry Requirements (For Sept 2026 entry)

Students in the Fortismere Sixth Form typically take 3 A Levels or one Level 3 BTEC qualification, with the exception of those choosing Further Maths, who take four (Maths, Further Maths, and two others).

To study 3 A Levels, students must have achieved 5 GCSE grades of 5 or above, including a minimum of a grade 5 in English and in Maths.  Further Maths may be taken as a fourth subject for those meeting the specific criteria.

Requests for a fourth A-Level in other subjects are subject to specific review.  If you are interested in studying a fourth A Level, please read our guidance document on requesting to do so here.  

For all subjects, students must also meet any subject/course-specific requirements as outlined in the section below.

To study the Extended Diploma BTEC Creative Digital Media Production course, students must have achieved 5 GCSE grades of 4 or above, including a minimum of a grade 4 in English and in Maths.

General Sixth Form Entry Requirements (for Sept 2027 entry)

To ensure every student is placed on a course of study that best supports their academic success, Fortismere Sixth Form operates a pathways model for admissions where minimum entry requirements are dependent on the specific route a student intends to follow. 

Pathway GCSE Average Point Score* English Maths
3 A Level pathway 5.5 or above

Grade 5 or above in either English Literature or English Language and minimum of Grade 4 in English Language

Grade 5 or above
Combined pathway: 2 A Levels + 1 BTEC/vocational 5.0 or above Grade 5 or above in either English Literature or English Language and minimum of Grade 4 in English Language Grade 5 or above
Combined pathway: 1 A Levels + 2 BTEC/vocational 4.5 or above

Grade 5 or above in either English Literature or English Language and minimum of Grade 4 in English Language

Grade 5 or above
Vocational pathway: BTEC Extended Diploma or 3 BTEC/vocational courses 4.0 or above Grade 4 or above in English Language Grade 4 or above

* APS calculated across the best 8 GCSE or GCSE equivalent grades

Across all pathways, students must also meet any subject/course-specific requirements as outlined in the section below.

Additionally, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) remains available as an extra qualification to students on all pathways.
