For many years Fortismere has enjoyed its status as a technology college but I would like to welcome you to a new era at Fortismere as we launch our new specialisms of Maths/Computing with Music and our additional second specialism of Foreign Languages. This is an exciting time as we enrich whole school learning through our new specialisms, benefiting not only the departments involved but the entire school community.

As a school with so many strengths we have decided to combine our impressive Mathematics background with the innovative subject of ICT as a key specialism. Both are hugely popular subjects and have excellent reputations. With the exceptional musical talent and the breadth of music activity already available in the school it was clear that Music should also form part of this exciting project, especially when you consider how well Music and ICT complement one another with the introduction of our Music Technology course. Our status as a high performing specialist school (HPSS) allows us to further extend our specialisms by adopting a second specialism in Languages, reinforcing the dynamic work already taking place within the Languages department here at Fortismere.

As a Specialist Maths & Computing with Music and Languages school you can expect to see some changes in the future. We will be launching a number of projects, working closely with our local community and businesses, as well as pursuing our partnerships with local Secondary and feeder Primary schools. In this newsletter you will find out more about some of the exciting things happening at Fortismere as we move forward as a world class school.
