Fortismere is a high-attaining, mixed foundation secondary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, North London with a strong tradition of excellence. The Co-headteachers are seeking a skilled and experienced educational innovator to lead on the development of Curriculum, Teaching and Learning at our school.

Fortismere continues to be a school with strong outcomes but with the potential to do even better. Ambitious and inclusive; caring while demanding; collaborative, visionary and inspirational are all words that would describe our school, and should describe any aspiring candidates for this role. We have all the right ingredients to make an even greater success of this fantastic school, which is recognised for providing an outstanding education whilst valuing the whole person. We have the highest expectations of every student, who in turn receive an excellent education that transforms their life chances.

The right person will provide the strategic leadership that will engage our learning community, has a track record of curriculum design and developing innovative teaching practice. Someone who is visible, talented, aspirational, inclusive and motivational and is not afraid of challenging traditional orthodoxies will be successful in this role.  We are also looking for an individual who is intellectually curious, engages extensively with evolving pedagogical discourse and has the capacity to lead, challenge and develop our teaching staff.

If this sounds like you, and if like us you are committed to comprehensive state education and have an exceptional track record in senior leadership of a large secondary school then we would like to hear from you.

On Friday 29 March, long listed candidates will be invited for a short visit to the school which will involve a tour and a conversation with key members of staff. Successful candidates from this day will be invited for interview on Monday 1 April which will produce a short list for interview on Tuesday 2 April.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment.  All successful applicants will be required to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS prior to appointment.
