Sports Review: Spring Term 2016

Another fantastic term for Fortismere students across a wide range of sports. Here is a round-up from the spring term:

Indoor Cricket – Boys & Girls

Huge congratulations to our indoor cricket teams who claimed some fine results in the Middlesex regional indoor events.

Our U13 boys were crowned Middlesex Indoor Champions having won through two regional competitions (Haringey and inner London). The tournament ended in a nail-biting super over but the boys held their nerve and came through with two balls to spare! Congratulations to the squad which consisted of Y7 & Y8 students (pictured below).

More success followed for our girls in the same competitions with the U13 girls finishing 3rd & the U15 girls finishing 4th. We hope to build on these successes as we enter the summer outdoor cricket leagues after Easter. (U13 / U15 girls pictured below)

Boys' Senior Football:

The senior football season ended with some pleasing results for our 1st & 2nd XI teams. In particular we would like to wish our Y13s well as they move on from Fortismere - many have contributed to 7 years of Fortismere football and they have always represented the school extremely well.

Handball

A great day out for our U13 boys who represented Haringey in the London Youth Games finals held at the Copperbox arena! This was following regional tournament wins at Haringey and North London events. The boys played really well against strong opposition, finally finishing 8th.

Year 7 Haringey & Middlesex Cup Runs

The year 7 team are also enjoying some good cup form this season. They finished 2nd in the Haringey Cup event, narrowly missing out in the final. The boys have also progressed to the Middlesex Cup semi-final following an excellent win against Compton. They play either East Barnet or Enfield Grammar for a final spot and we wish them luck with that big game in the new year!
