When we were discussing what she would like to do during her tenure as Patron of Reading at Fortismere, Non Pratt suggested that she would like to run an evening event where whole families could come to the library to discuss ways of creating a buzz about the pleasures of reading.  So on Thursday 16th November, we held Non’s Night, where she talked about her plans for the next two years (competitions, themed days, quizzes, Dr Non’s Book Surgery, workshops and much more) and then spoke generally on how to encourage reading for pleasure.  Some excellent discussion and questions followed and it was wonderful to see younger siblings curled up on cushions devouring books (and doughnuts) or being read to by older brothers and sisters.
