Dance

Dance makes a distinctive contribution to the education of all pupils at Fortismere in that it uses the most fundamental mode of human expression - movement. Through its use of non-verbal communication pupils are able to participate in a way which differs from any other learning. It provides aesthetic and cultural education, opportunities for personal expression and it also introduces students to a wealth of traditional, social and theatrical forms. In a broad and balanced curriculum this important area of human experience should not be neglected.


Aims of the Dance Department

To develop an awareness of the body as a physical presence and as an instrument of communication through the medium of dance.

To stimulate, encourage and develop the individual special aptitudes and interest and to foster and encourage confidence, co-operation, sensitivity to others, enthusiasm enjoyment and a sense of achievement.


 

 

 



Teaching and Learning Methods

A variety of teaching methods are approached:

Pupil's seminar
